Last time i had a small problem. The problem was, i wanted to open my downloaded excel file in a cyber cafe, where Microsoft Excel was not installed.

This was a big problem which will be faced by almost every one once in a while. In those situations, there is a small utility which helps us a lot. It is called Usb Office.

It's increasingly becoming difficult to stay anonymous on the Net!

Almost every where you visit, you will be leaving your surfing tracks which can easily be used for tracking you down. Not just that, some of the websites even put some nasty codes which even monitor your complete surfing activities too!

The simple solution for this type of problem is to use proxy's. More specifically, to use web based proxy's which requires almost no need to change your computers any configurations.

For example using one of the free fast anonymous web proxy privatesurfing.info you can surf internet almost without any traces. By the way, you can find many more of the web proxy's at proxy list provider at proxylist4all.info.

Bandwidth Manager is an excellent tool for shaing network bandwidth. I use a 256kpbs broad band connection which is shared among 6 different users including my self.

Generally, if any one or two users start some video/heavy net surfing, the entire network becomes slow and this frustates all other net users. Additionally, I get a monthly bandwidth of 1gb max and when i cross it, i need to pay extra.

If you are facing a similar situation, you can try Bandwidth manager which helps a lot. You can download it from Softperfect web site as a trial.

A few command line commands in Windows Xp

Most of us are using the Windows XP Operating system for our daily work. We know that, For almost every kind of work in Xp, we just go to the appropriate menu item, and click it to start working.

But here is a list of commands which you can use as shortcuts to use from Xp command line. I just found it somewhere and all credit goes to the original list creator.

Btw, to use them, you dont have to goto MS DOS prompt in Xp. Just goto Start and select Run, In the Run text box, type your command and click OK to run it.

I just wonder how all these free hosting providers pay their hosting bills. Except the hosting people with ads, i think no body can survive in the long run. But it seems there are hosting people who can survive this.

For example, take a look at the offers being made by free hosting company's at free hosting world. They seems to be crazy. If one offers 1gb space a nd 20gb bandwidth with no ads(ooblez), the other offers 5gb and 65 gb with ads(cybertoad). There is an offer from i6networks with 5gb space and an incredible 1terra bytes bandwidth hosting!

I really hope all of them stay in business.

Interesting Microsoft - Bill Gates spam mail

Here is an interesting spam message i received today. In brief, the message says "Send Spam and Bill gates makes you a millionaire!".

For many newbees, the falling factor is the testimonials attached with the message which says "I received a few thousand/million dollars today blah blah blah..."

Just read it, it is really funny!

Airtel GPRS settings

This week i had a problem accessing the net thru my Sony Ericsson mobile. Everytime i actiavated Airtel Mobile Office, I just could not get the Mobile Office settings to my phone!

I trid contacting airtel customer care. As usual, they just did not know anything other than sending or recieving activation/deactivation SMS and price. The customer support guy told me to wait first for 1/2 hour and then around two hours to get my settings. Even one of the customer care stupid fellow told me that My little Sony Ericson Z550i phone can't be used with Mobile Office! Hats off to his technical knowledge!

After this waste of time, I thought i try on my own to tinker with my swedish brick. Just went on checking all settings and deleted all my existing data accounts. Then I sent an sms ALL to 2567. Within 2 minutes I recieved all the required settings including Mobile Office.

It is time to get some knowledgeble customer care guys and gals at Airtel support desk. Currently It is just pathetic support for a novice there.

Well, Samsung is going for a head to head competition with Apple's iPhone.

Its new F700 GSM phone is getting very good reviews everywhere. The
F700 is having touch sensitive screen, 5 Mega pixel digital camera,

where this competition takes mobile wars.

Finding Shortcut Keys in Ms-Office

If you would like to know the short cut keys used in Ms-Office
products like Ms-Word, Ms-Excel or PowerPoint, you can use three
different methods as follows..

1. Goto Help Menu, Select "Contents and Index" Item, Search for "keys,
shortcut keys" phrase. This opens a small dialog where you can select
which type of shortcut key list you want. Select the required type and
Click "Display" button to see the shortcut key list.

2. Open the menu which contains the required item and see the right
side of menu. If there is a shortcut key for that item, it will be
shown there for your reference.

3. Goto View menu, select Toolbars and click Customize... option. This
opens customize dialog box. Select "Options" there and Turn on both
"Show ScreenTips on Toolbars" and "Show Shortcut key in Screentips"
items. Now everytime when you point mouse to any toolbar button, you
can see the name of the item with a shortcut key(if available) for
that item.

Windows Vista and Bill gates

I just read the news on Bill gates commenting on Windows Vista and its features. He says something like "Vista is going to rule the pc's like Windows 95 did when introduced". I really find nothing of interest in Vista.

All the features including the increased multimedia capabilities are already available for the pc user in the form of different softwares. May be Vista is going to combine all of them into a single package.

If Vista will be a big success, it will be because of Microsoft's marketing techniques rather than a ground breaking new Operating System. Let's wait and watch what they have in store with Vista for us.

This is the mobile usually I use for net browsing. It is a little, cute, 1.3 mega pixel camera phone with enough features.

First, Lets have some tips and tricks which i came to know while using the phone.

Be default, the phone will automatically receive a call when you unfold it. You can turn off the same using following method..
* Start the Menu system and select "Settings" option.
* Goto the 4th tab namely "Calls" tab.
* Scroll down and select "Open to answer" menu item.
* Goto "Off" option and click select button.

Now when you are receiving a call, you have to unfold and press
Answer button to answer the call.
